How to maintain momentum

The easiest way to lose momentum is to plan for your aspirational self *all of the time*. Some days you *are* your aspirational self. You wake up with energy and motivation and a will to change the bloody world.

But some days, you’ll wake up and want to stay on your phone for an hour before you drag yourself out of bed.

You need to accommodate both of those versions of you.

Here’s a habit plan that does that:

  • When I’m my aspirational self, I’ll: Read 20 pages of a book focused on my growth
  • When I’m feeling average, I’ll: Read 10 pages of a book focused on my growth
  • When I’m feeling low energy or off, I’ll: Read 1 page of a book focused on my growth

Having range goals like this has been shown to create more sustainable habits.
