Midlife by Design, Not by Default

I believe midlife is not the end of something. It is the beginning of a more intentional chapter. For many women, this season arrives with change on every level. Your body shifts. Your relationships evolve. Your children grow up. Your work may no longer fit. The life you built may look completely fine from the outside, but inside, something is quietly asking for more truth, more depth, more meaning, more you.

That is the space I work in.

I’m Kiran SinghMidlife Lifestyle CoachAuthorPodcast Host, and founder of Midlife by Design and The Sattva Collective CIC. Through writing, conversations, and carefully curated support, I help women move from living by default to living by design.

My story

My journey has not been neat, linear, or easy. I was born and raised in Norway and moved to the UK in 2008 with my daughter, carrying little more than hope, determination, and a deep inner knowing that I needed to begin again. Before that, my life had already been marked by heartbreak, caregiving, grief, and reinvention. An arranged marriage that ended quickly. Years as a single mother. Caring for my mother through ovarian cancer. The kind of loss that changes you at the root.

When I arrived in London, life did not suddenly become easier. The recession hit. Work fell through. I faced debt, uncertainty, and isolation while rebuilding a life for us from the ground up. I studied, trained, worked, wrote, and slowly created something steadier from the chaos. Along the way, there were more setbacks, more reinventions, more life lessons than I ever would have chosen — and all of them shaped the woman I am today.

Later, as I moved through my 40s, I found myself at another kind of crossroads. Not just physical shifts, but a deeper reckoning with identity, purpose, and what I actually wanted the second half of my life to look like. That question, How do I want to live now? ” changed everything.

It led me back to myself. And it led me here.

That lived experience is at the heart of my work. I do not write or speak about midlife from a distance. I write from inside it. From the realness of it. From the beauty, grief, uncertainty, reinvention, courage, and quiet becoming of it.

What I do now

Midlife by Design is the home of my work, a lifestyle philosophy, media platform, and transformation space for women who want to create a life that feels more aligned now, not someday.

Everything I create is rooted in five core life areas:

These are the lenses through which I explore midlife, because this season never changes just one part of us. It touches everything.

Through my writing, podcast, interviews, courses, and coaching, I create thoughtful, emotionally intelligent support for women who are ready to return to themselves and redesign what comes next with intention and care.

I am also the author of From What Now? to Watch Me, the book I needed and couldn’t find. The one that says: “You are not behind, you are not too late, and the second half of your life deserves as much intention and beauty as the first.

Why this work matters to me

Too many women reach midlife feeling disconnected from themselves. They have spent years caring, coping, carrying, holding it all together, doing what was expected, surviving what life placed in front of them. Then one day they look around and realise they are ready for something more honest, more nourishing, more meaningful.

I know that feeling intimately. I also know what becomes possible when a woman stops asking “how do I get through this?” and starts asking “how do I want to live now?”

That is the shift Midlife by Design exists to support.

A little more about me

I am the founder and director of The Sattva Collective CIC, a community interest company rooted in supporting women whose voices and experiences are often overlooked. My work has been featured across online and print publications and media platforms over the years. And I am currently counting down 85 weeks to my 50th birthday, interviewing women who are living their midlife by design, and documenting my own becoming along the way.

I care far more about depth than noise, truth than performance, and creating work that actually changes how women feel about their lives.

If you’re here…

Maybe you are in a season of change. Maybe you are tired of performing your way through life. Maybe you are craving more clarity, more self-trust, more beauty, more meaning, more space to simply hear yourself think.

Maybe you are the woman who has outgrown a version of herself and isn’t quite sure who she’s becoming yet.

If so, you are in exactly the right place.

This is where she figures it out.

Come in. Stay a while.
