The next time you know that you have to do something that you wouldn’t usually enjoy, ask:
How can I make this more enjoyable?
Some things simply aren’t enjoyable. For me, a 2-3 hour travel on the train is unenjoyable. Going to a shopping centre is a drag. *But* if I use that question – “How can I make this more enjoyable” – I can turn those things into a semi-good time.
When I go to the shops, I can put in some earbuds and listen to music, a podcast or an audiobook. I can try and compliment every person that serves me. I can let myself wander into the bookstore, or sit down and enjoy a hot chocolate in the sun – *rather than just ticking off the shopping list*
Instead of getting bored on my train journey, I can pre-pick an audiobook I’ve been looking forward to for the train ride.
When you have to do boring or mundane things, start asking: How can I make this a better time for myself? What could I do so that this doesn’t feel so draining, boring or frustrating?
