How to get Comfortable with the Uncomfortable

When was the last time you stepped out of your comfort zone? If there is one thing I have always been good at is taking things off of my “someday” list and putting them on a day of the week that actually exists: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Go on a road trip, start a new business, start exercising – It’s an absolutely amazing, brilliant, beautiful world out there filled with wonders that are readily available for you to experience.  You don’t have to be rich.  You don’t have to be exceptional.  If you want to experience it all, you just have to make a decision, set some goals, and make it happen.

“It’s not about stepping in and out of your comfort zone, it’s about expanding your comfort zone.”

Get out of the perfectionist trap

If you are waiting for everything to be perfect you will never do anything! There will always be something you want to change, there will always be something for you to adjust, if you are waiting for the perfect timing… it was last week, last month, last year… it’s right now!

Count down from 5!

Are you on the edge of doing something, maybe you’re considering going to the gym or for a walk… don’t let your procrastination win, instead when you have the urge to do something count down from 5 seconds and make the commitment before you hit 1!

Stop letting fear get in the way

The only way to get past the fear of doing something is to do it! And trust me, no one is fearless, they just learned that you need to do it!

Get comfortable with the uncomfortable

Stepping out of your comfort zone sucks, and your brain will be working in overdrive to pull you back in! This is where you need to build resistance and get comfortable with the uncomfortable, learn to create motion and pretty soon the comfort zone will feel stagnant and uncomfortable!

“Do what you are scared of doing until it’s no longer scary. That’s growth. Stepping out of your comfort zone is what will lead you to achieve the level of success you want for yourself.”

Getting comfortable with being uncomfortable is the one hard thing we have to do to live a life we are excited and happy to look back on.

Hear me now but believe me later: until your personal priorities have dates in your day planner they will tumble to the bottom of your infinitely expanding to-do list.

What are you going to put down on your calendar today?
