There’s a quiet ache that many of us carry – a longing for something more, paired with the habit of waiting.
We wait for someone to say yes to that concert, that hike, that late-night ice cream run.
We wait for a text, a sign, a companion.
We wait to feel seen, held, wanted – to feel alive.
But what I’ve come to realise in this beautiful, complex season of midlife is this: Life isn’t waiting for us. It never has, and never will.
The sunsets keep showing up – breathtaking, golden, unapologetically beautiful – whether or not someone is standing beside us.
The sea doesn’t ask if we have company before inviting us in.
The song, the book, the memory waiting to be made – they don’t rely on someone else’s schedule.
So what are we really waiting for?

My Turning Point
For the longest time, I hesitated. I used to postpone the little joys – and the big adventures – because I didn’t want to experience them alone. I told myself it wouldn’t be as meaningful. I told myself I’d wait “until…”
Until someone could go with me.
Until it made more sense.
Until I felt ready.
Until I had more time.
But something shifted the moment I went to Paris by myself, heart wide open. I didn’t feel alone – I felt free. I walked around Montmartre’s cobbled streets, visited museums, sat outside cafés sipping hot chocolate and eating delicious croissants – I had a good time with myself. And that opened the door to many other “firsts” that didn’t require permission.
Now? I go to markets, beaches, cafés, city breaks abroad and SPA breaks by myself – and sometimes, it’s even better. Because it’s not about who’s with me. It’s about being fully alive in the moment.

Here’s the Truth:
You think you have time.
But none of us knows how many summers we’ll get. The average is 80. Some get less (my Mum got 58 and my youngest brother got 33). Some get more. But let’s not waste them.
This isn’t a rehearsal. This is your one, wild, sacred life.
