Reclaiming Your Weekend

You’ve got to love the weekend right? I know I do! During my childhood years, weekends used to be something special, they used to be sacred. Weekends actually used to be weekends – pure joy. Then it all got ‘lost’ in the grown-up world.

So this year I am on a mission to bring back my childhood weekend; The never-ending Weekend ♡

Weekends to me are sacred, I’ve intentionally made up my mind not to do any work, just rest, reset and rejuvenate my mind, body and soul.

Creating sacred time and doing things I love:

  • Catch up with friends and family
  • Picnic at our local park
  • Visit the local Museum
  • Long walks on the beach (as we live on the seafront)
  • Explore our home town
  • Cook delicious foods
  • Bake a cake
  • Create our retreat at home with SPA treatments and all
  • Give our Home some TLC ♡ (been watching loads of de-cluttering, organising and minimalism videos on YouTube for the past few months!)
  • Movie nights
  • Work on my personal growth
  • Put on our favourite tunes and let loose
  • Yoga & Meditation

Making plans is part of the fun. But don’t forget to leave time for the little things, too; there’s a pleasure to be had from baking a cake, listening to your favourite podcast, going for a walk…

“Wellbeing isn’t something we just top-up at the weekend but a commitment for every day of the week. However, the weekend is a time to catch up with looking after ourselves and planning our time is even more of a priority!”

Sometimes it can feel as if there’s no time for downtime. Our hectic weeks are bookended by more hectic weekends spent managing household chores and squeezing in as many scheduled activities as possible, all the while tethered to our smartphones and monitoring our work email. As a result, having two days of open time in which to rest, play, and connect may seem like a thing of the past.

Do you have an experience list

Focus on planning these activities in:

  1. What to WATCH
  2. What to READ
  3. What to EAT
  4. What to DO

We all need rest and rejuvenation. Without deep, restorative time, we power through jam-packed weekends (or aimlessly surf the net), only to wake up on Monday mornings feeling tired and dissatisfied.

Weekends are two days full of possibilities. How will you make it never-ending? Will you invite friends and family over for dinner? Go on a long bike ride and picnic? Go to the beach? Or simply have a quiet one at home?
