Most of us know when we focus and give our attention to something that’s where we send our energy towards. Why is it that regardless of this information, we still often choose to send our energy towards the negative and upsetting things, rather than exciting and joyful things?
Have you ever asked yourself this question?
Here I share 4 easy ways you can redirect your focus and attention towards what makes you happy and keeps you away from negative thoughts:
Stay active
There are 1 million ways to stay active and in motion even if you are busy, you just need to build it into your routine and do it. Here are some examples:
- Working from home / or in an office
- Do your Zoom meetings standing up
- Walk around when you’re on the phone
- Take a 5min break every 2 hours and do 3 stretching exercises
- Go for a daily walk (MY FAVOURITE) or run for at least 20 min
- Find a sport that you have never done before and try it out, do this until you find something that you enjoy and start by doing that at least once a week.
Meditate
If meditation is not for you try mindfulness, focus on one task and be aware and mindful of the sensations, be in the present moment, take everything in and pay attention to what you eat, what you hear, what you see or how you behave with your loved ones.
Anxiety and Excitement
Did you know that anxiety and excitement are almost the same feelings? The only difference is how we label them, it’s our thoughts that make it dreadful or joyful. The words and messages we say to ourselves are extremely strong, using the right words and the right message does change our posture and behaviour.
Change
What’s the worst that can happen? Imagine the worst thing that could happen and be ok with that. Imagine different scenarios best and worst. Remember of a time you went through a big change / loss / unexpected experience and how you got through it.
How much of it can you control? Whatever you can control, do it, the rest send it love and let go. Accept or take action. What are your true values and principles? Can you accept the situation? If yes, work on that, but be truly ok with it and don’t look back.
