It’s been nearly three years since I last shared a life update. So much has changed in that time – moments of heartbreak, unexpected challenges, and profound transformation.
In March 2022, I was told I was going through perimenopause. I was shocked. I thought I was too young. My body and mind felt different in ways I couldn’t explain. Symptoms like hot flashes, brain fog, and mood swings crept into my daily life, and I didn’t recognise myself anymore. I confided in my aunt, who suggested it might be perimenopause. Her words sparked a whirlwind of research, panic, and, eventually, a blood test that confirmed it. My GP, who specialised in menopause, listened to my symptoms and helped me piece it all together.
I tried to carry on with life as “normal.” I began a yoga and Pilates practice in January 2023 that transformed my body and eased my arthritis pain. Within six months, I went from a small size 12 to a size 8. I felt strong and healthy again – it was the healthiest I’d ever been.
But when we moved to Bedford in July 2023, life shifted again. My routines fell apart. Yoga and Pilates were replaced by long walks, but it wasn’t enough. The pain in my hip worsened, and my health took a turn. My cholesterol shot up, my blood sugar was on the verge of diabetes, and I felt like I was unravelling. The symptoms of perimenopause came roaring back – hot flashes, brain fog, mood swings, anxiety, and a crushing sense of self-doubt.
I would look in the mirror and barely recognise myself. Where had my confidence gone? Would I ever feel comfortable in my skin again?
One day, just after my 47th birthday, it hit me like a lightning bolt:
WAS I JUST GOING TO ACCEPT THIS? OR WAS I GOING TO FIGHT FOR MYSELF?
If I wanted to feel differently – to feel confident, grounded, and whole – I knew I had to do things differently. But this wasn’t about dieting or punishing workout routines. I’m a self-confessed foodie, and the idea of gruelling exercise doesn’t inspire me. What I wanted was a life that felt soulful and nourishing, a way to reinvent myself with kindness and intention.
I started learning everything I could about my changing body and mind. I discovered that, while hormones may throw us curveballs, there’s so much we can control. And the more I understood, the more empowered I felt.
This journey inspired me to deepen my knowledge further. I became a Menopause Wellness Coach, a Women’s Health Coach, and a Holistic Health Practitioner, adding these credentials to my existing ones as a Lifestyle Coach, Life Purpose Coach, Vegan & Vegetarian Nutritionist, and Master NLP Practitioner.
And through this process, everything shifted.
I discovered a system that allowed me to rebuild my self-esteem, let go of self-doubt, and truly feel great in my skin again. I started making choices that aligned with my values – not out of guilt or pressure, but from a place of self-love. I joined the gym in October and now enjoy 30-60 minute workouts, six days a week. I’ve found joy in movement again, without the pressure of perfection.
Last week, I received blood test results: normal cholesterol, and normal blood sugar. Relief doesn’t even begin to describe it.
Now, I’m stepping into a new chapter of my life – one grounded in intention, simplicity, and meaning. I’m focusing on what truly matters:
- Creating a home that feels like a sanctuary.
- Nourishing my body with comforting, wholesome meals.
- Moving mindfully through yoga, Pilates, meditation, and walks in nature.
- Living in alignment with the seasons and finding joy in life’s small wonders.
I’ve learned that happiness and fulfilment don’t come from chasing big milestones – they come from the daily habits that reflect who we truly are. Life isn’t a race; it’s a journey to be savoured, step by step.

YOUR LIFE IS NOT A DESTINATION, IT’S UNFOLDING.
