One of the most healing things I’ve learned in midlife is this:
I’m allowed to say no – without guilt, without apology.
There’s something liberating about honouring your limits.
About choosing your wellbeing over someone else’s expectations.
And no, it’s not selfish.
It’s self-respect.
Whether it’s turning down an invite, stepping back from work, or setting firmer boundaries, saying no is a sacred act of self-care.
I used to fear being seen as difficult or rude.
But the truth is, every “yes” that betrayed my own needs only left me feeling depleted.
Now, I choose to protect my peace.
And every time I do, I remind myself:
I matter too.
