I’ve been feeling it, this quiet evolution stirring in me lately. You know the sort of shift I mean? It’s when the inner whisper becomes a gentle insistence: It’s time. Time to take stock. Time for a Life Audit.
Like Autumn quietly inviting us home, midlife nudges us out of autopilot and into a deeper, more intentional way of living. And right now, I feel the pull to pause, reflect, and recalibrate across every area of my life.
So I’m doing a Life Audit, thinking of it as a soulful check-in, not a judgment session. Here’s why, how, and how simple it can be to begin.

Why a Life Audit? Because I’m Here, Evolving.
I’m not lost, but I’ve changed.
- My priorities have shifted.
- My energy has changed.
- My rhythm? It’s quieter, deeper.
- My body? It’s asking me to listen, to slow down.
It felt like push was turning into strain. And instead of rebelling against it, I want to respond.
A Life Audit is my way of lovingly asking: What’s serving me now? What’s ready to be released? What season am I truly in?

How to Do Your Own Life Audit: My Simple 5-Step Method
1. Choose Your Core Life Areas
I work with these five:
- Health and Overall Well-Being: A healthy body is the foundation for a fulfilling life.
- Personality, Character, & Self-discovery: Self-awareness and personal growth are crucial for a fulfilling life.
- Relationships & Connections: Human connection is essential for our emotional well-being.
- Money & Purpose: A fulfilling career or business contributes significantly to overall satisfaction.
- Quality of Life (aka Lifestyle): Your lifestyle choices significantly impact your overall well-being.
List them across the top of a page in your favourite notebook.
2. Rate Each Area Out of 10
Trust your intuition. Give each area a score. For me, “Health & Body” felt like a 5, ugly signs I’m ignoring. “Self & Inner Life” felt like a 3, too little ritual, too much rushing.
This isn’t about perfection. It’s about awareness.
3. Ask the Heart Questions
Beside each area, write:
- What feels joyful here?
- What feels heavy or draining?
- What small step could bring more ease?
For “Home & Environment”:
- Joyful – soft cushions, candle evenings
- Heavy – cluttered corners
- Small step – declutter one drawer this weekend
4. Pick One Area & Set One Intentional Goal
Choose gently. For me, it was “Self & Inner Life.” My first intention?
Start a five-minute candle ritual each morning, just me, tea, journal, and a candle flame.
Decide on one simple, soulful goal that feels like yes.
5. Create Your Mini Action Plan
Break that goal into baby steps:
- Choose a candle and a journal tonight
- Tonight, set them on the bedside table
- Tomorrow, light a candle and write one sentence
- Repeat daily for a week, track it
Small actions build soul‑nourishing routines.

Journaling Prompts to Guide Your Audit
- What area of my life feels most out of alignment?
- If I had permission to redesign one part of my life, what would I change?
- What leftover commitments can I gently let go of?
- What nourishing ritual have I been missing?
- What small ritual could reconnect me with my real self?

Why This Matters (Especially in Midlife)
Because you and I both know: midlife isn’t mid-failure. It’s mid-becoming.
We’re not off-track. We’re on an evolving path.
A Life Audit isn’t a project; it’s a practice. A way to honour that you are shifting, and intentionally choose how you move forward.
