Digging Myself Out: The Quiet Becoming of Who I Really Am

It’s been another humid, flustered kind of day, but the cool breeze that swept in now and then felt like life returning to my body.

I honoured my rhythm today. Worked when the air was cooler, let myself slow down in the heat of the afternoon, and found my way back to my desk as the evening softened everything.

Made a nourishing salad – a little moment of creativity with smoked salmon, cous cous, sautéed leek and courgette, grated carrots, herby potatoes, spinach and bell peppers. It’s the small acts of care that bring me back to myself.

I also sat with my Mid-Year Review today – a full blog post is landing tomorrow morning over at Kiransinghuk.com/journal if you fancy reading it.

But what’s really been sitting with me is this quiet, powerful realisation:

I didn’t lose myself.

I buried myself beneath what others needed me to be. Beneath expectations. Beneath survival.

And now, little by little, I’m digging myself out.
Gently. Bravely. Quietly.

It’s already happening – the becoming, the unfolding, the remembering of who I always was before the world told me otherwise.

And if you’re rebuilding your identity as a woman, too, this space is for you. You’re not alone in this.

I’ve also been thinking a lot about my body lately. Not from a place of “summer body” culture – that noise doesn’t belong here – but from love and longevity.
I want 60-year-old me to still move with ease.
To lift. To walk. To explore the world. To live fully.

And that starts with small, consistent care.
One walk.
One nourishing meal.
One gentle yoga or Pilates practice.
Then showing up for myself again tomorrow.

Momentum isn’t rushed. It’s built quietly, one choice at a time.

I’ve realised how much joy I find in creating Home.
Not just homemaking, but tending to my environment like a living, breathing space of comfort, creativity, and grounding.
It’s my sanctuary. My expression of care. My quiet act of rebellion in a world that rushes.

And that’s what this journey is really about…
Self-care, rituals, morning routines – they aren’t boxes to tick off.
They’re an invitation to soften.
To feel good. To trust myself. To keep my own promises.
That’s the healing.
That’s the freedom.
That’s the becoming.

I’m exactly where I need to be. And so are you x
